ICCD: Reaching the Deaf for Christ

Though deaf and hearing people live on the same streets, their worlds are completely different. Hearing children grow up hearing their mother say, “I love you,” listening to the birds in the fields, hearing truck engines roar at work sites. The deaf hear none of this. Hearing children have access to education where they can learn to read road signs, balance check books, understand the changing of the seasons, and write a letter to a good friend. All around the world, deaf children are growing up uneducated. The hearing know God because they can hear. They hear the sermons at church, the special speakers in the summer tent meetings, the uplifting words on the radio, and the music that gives wings to what their heart cannot express. They meet God as they read the Bible, but they are only able to read the Bible because they are educated. In neighborhoods around the world, hearing people are accessing the gospel on a daily basis. Their deaf neighbors have yet to hear of Jesus for the first time.

We’re the International Christian Centers for the Deaf (ICCD). We exist for the deaf: their social, educational, financial, and especially spiritual needs. We are currently working in Mexico and Cuba, but our vision is to expand around the world going first to the deaf who cannot access the gospel.
