The Residential
School Model
Discipling deaf children for Christ and integrating them into the
church.
This model is the most effective method of reaching and discipling deaf
children for Christ. It also plays an effective support role for the
other models.
The Residential School model targets deaf who are not reached
by Church Schools. It is the most effective method for building godly character
by providing godly role models day and night for 9 months each year. It is the
only way of reaching the deaf who live too far away from a Church School or whose
parents either aren’t interested in transporting them to school each day or aren’t
able to afford daily transportation. We praise God that with this model
typically more than 90% of the senior students have accepted Christ as their
Savior. This model requires a campus
with dorms, classrooms, kitchen and dining room, staff lodging and play fields.
Volunteer work teams are needed for construction.
The Support Hub for Other Models
Training
support – The Residential campus is designed as a training hub, servicing large
geographic regions. During the summer and holidays, workers from the other
models will stay at the campus for intensive teacher training. We will use the
campus for Biblical Theological Training. It will house camps for the deaf and
interpreters. The campus has numerous possibilities as a support hub.
Prayer
support – We will share with the work team members the need of the deaf in many
countries. During the week, the team will pray specifically for the Church School, Church Planting, and Secular
Deaf School
ministries. The missionaries and nationals will provide specific, up-to-date prayer requests for the work team members. They will target specific cities and
countries, specific unsaved deaf, and specific needs for more laborers for the
harvest. We trust that this prayer support will continue long after the teams
have returned home. We trust that they will share their burden with their churches and that God will raise up much prayer support for all aspects of the
ministry.
Financial
support – Similarly, as the work team members are made aware of the needs, we
trust they will support missionaries, nationals, and students (child sponsors)
in other models.
Missionary
support – We pray God will use a work team’s time of concentrated service at
the campus to call believers to start new Church Schools, to enter more Secular
Deaf Schools, and to plant churches for the deaf.
