Building Treasures in Heaven

Sophie sits in the shade of an old tree and watches the village children laughing and playing together. Her brothers and sisters are among them, but no one calls her name. No one invites her to join the game. They used to call her, but since she couldn’t hear them, she never answered. And so they stopped calling. In truth, she doesn’t even know her name is “Sophie.”

Seeing her little girl crying, Sophie’s mother leaves her chores to comfort her daughter, but her words of love cannot penetrate Sophie’s deaf ears. In pain and frustration, she returns to the house. She has heard about a school in the city that could help Sophie, but she can’t afford the bus fare, much less the school fees. So her little Sophie remains wrapped in a silent, lonely world.

Juan Andres faithfully attended church for seven frustrating years, searching for peace with his Creator and friendship with his neighbor. He saw the love of Christ reflected in the church members and longed to experience it for himself. He longed to belong. He was so close he could touch it, but he was separated by an impenetrable barrier. He is deaf.

One Sunday, Juan went to church, expecting it to be like the last 364 times he had been. But this time an ICCD-trained Christian he had seen many times before greeted him in his own language, the only language he can ‘hear,’ Sign Language. Juan found Christ as his savior and finally belonged to a real community, the Body of Christ. Today Juan is boldly sharing the Good News with other deaf in his country.

Juan found the treasure of Christ. He and many other hearing and deaf Christians long to share their Treasure, but they are limited by financial constraints.

What about you? Has the Lord stirred your compassion to help a deaf child who doesn’t know her name? a deaf adult who is longing for peace and purpose? Whether you have $5 or $500,000, your gift is of great value to God. He can multiply it beyond your wildest imaginations.

We can help you to have a strategic, measurable, worldwide impact in meeting the needs of the deaf for eternity. Perhaps you’d like to:
•    Provide funding for the expansion and implementation of ICCD’s vision
•    Sponsor a child
•    Support a Church School for the Deaf

You can donate now online, or you can contact us. We'd love to answer any questions you may have.

Are you a church representative? a Treasure Builder? a High Capacity Donor?
