You and Your Church
Your local church plays a wonderful role for both you and ICCD as you consider missions’ service.
God has ordained for pastors and mature believers to offer godly council and prayer support to those in need. Entering full-time missions’ service is a major decision and should not be taken lightly. Crossing cultures is difficult, and ministry in any field is demanding. Your church will join you in prayer, seeking God’s will for you. They will guide you in considering your decision from a godly perspective and will help us evaluate your readiness.
Is God calling you? Is now the right time, or is He asking you to wait before Him? If we all decide that this is not the right time for you to go, we will thank the Lord for protecting you. If missions is God’s will for you now, we will thank the Lord for promising His presence and strength.
As your Sending Church, they will be commissioning you to serve our Lord overseas on their behalf just as they continue to serve Him at home. They will pray for you, encourage you, guide you and love you. They will help you prepare and then will send you with their blessing and care. Your church has a special bond with you and will look forward to hearing from you. They will rejoice and grieve with you. They will stand firm with you as you weather the inevitable storms. And they will join you in your service by carrying you before our Lord. You won’t be alone.
Thank God for your church – for the precious people you call your own.
