Why do I need Child Sponsorship?
ICCD has established our first residential school in Rio Bravo, Mexico, “Mexico Centros Cristianos Para Sordomudos” (MCCS). Children as young as four are taught Sign Language, then basic school subjects and, most importantly, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We endeavor to prepare them for life through training in vocations, good character, and Christian values. This residential school can train children who live far away from the campus.
MCCS will ensure that each child is loved, protected, and cared for. Living with other deaf students allows the children to form real friendships with their peers. The Christian teachers and staff are role models who help develop their communication and social skills.
To encourage the parent’s interest in and involvement with their children, we charge school fees of approximately 6% of the actual cost. Some families cannot afford even this small portion. However, no child is rejected because of insufficient funds. We welcome these children and trusts the Lord to provide the necessary funds through His church and the “Sponsor a Child” program.
How much does it cost to sponsor a child?
The cost of sponsoring a child is $25.00 per month per sponsor. Payments may be made monthly or annually. Each child will need more than one sponsor (individuals, Sunday School classes, youth groups) in order to cover the actual cost of ministry expenses and the child’s clothing, medical care, food, housing, training and education.
Is my sponsorship/donation tax deductible?
Yes. Tax deductible receipts are issued after each monthly support check is received.
What information will I receive about the child I sponsor?
As a sponsor you will be a special friend to a deaf child. You will receive the child’s picture and biography, enabling you to know and pray for him or her.
May I correspond with the child I sponsor?
Simple correspondence, such as pictures which cross the language barrier, with the child is encouraged. The child will correspond with you several times a year.
May I meet with the child I sponsor?
Sponsors are encouraged to join workteams to Rio Bravo where they will be able to meet with the child they sponsor and other children on the campus. However, should the workteam go during school holidays, this may not always be possible as most of the children would have returned to their homes.
