Sponsoring a Child

They look like all the other children. They play with the same toys and wear the same clothes, but something is different. These boys don't seem to realize that they should add the sounds of a roaring engine when they play with their toy trucks. These girls seem to have forgotten the slurping sounds everyone makes while drinking tea, even if it's "just pretend" tea. These children are deaf.

Around the world, 70 million deaf people live in a silent world. Some of them are Pakistani. Others are Mozambican, Ukrainian, Burmese, or Mexican. All of them are deaf. Tragically, many of these deaf children are viewed as worthless. Whether it is due to religious beliefs that the deaf are paying for the sins of past lives or just due to years of frustration, many of these children live completely neglected and seemingly unloved lives. Many have no education available to them. Many are malnourished. Extremely few have any friends other than the stray dog roaming their streets.

At ICCD, we strive never to forget that God lovingly formed each one of these children. Through our Sponsor a Child program, we enable compassionate Christians to provide these children with food, clothing, a clean bed, education, and a loving community. Sponsored children will be able to attend an ICCD school where they will learn sign language, reading, writing, math, science, and the truth that God cares for them. We are delighted that the vast majority of children in our schools now trust God not only for their daily needs but also for their eternal salvation.
